INTEWA DRAINMAX Tunnel – now with technical DIBt® - approval

DRAINMAX Tunnel by INTEWA received the DIBt® approval as the first trench tunnel in Germany.

INTEWA GmbH has been impressive over the past few years with its innovative improvements in the field of rainwater management and water treatment. The products and systems of the Aachen based company are safe, energy efficient and offer a sustainable solution for every drainage situation. Now the INTEWA DRAINMAX trench tunnel has obtained approval of the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt® ).

The national technical approval

„In the scope of application of the 'Building Regulations of the Land' national technical approvals are granted for such construction products and types of construction for which there are no generally acknowledged rules of technology, DIN standards in particular, or which deviate considerably from these. They are reliable verifications of applicability of construction products and verifications of applicability of types of construction relating to requirements of construction works in the field of construction engineering.“ (DIBT homepage)

Tremendous load capacity

The geometry of the tunnel has already being used historically in numerous buildings since ancient times. INTEWA also takes advantage of the tunnel geometry and its rigid construction in the design of the DRAINMAX tunnel made from recyclable HDPE plastic.
DRAINMAX can be directly installed under such surfaces as parking spaces with a load of up to SLW 60 as it requires very little space. It is understandable then that the system is extremely resilient. The long-term load carrying capacity for the DRAINMAX system has been verified for a minimum service life of 50 years. This becomes equally beneficial for designers, builders, manufacturers and for companies wishing to implement such a system.

The exemplary stability is just a base which favours this type of rain water cultivation:

Unique trenches with flushable bottom

In most conventional infiltration trenches only the irrigation pipes can be cleaned later. However fine dirt particles enter through the slits of the irrigation pipes and then gradually set¬tle down to the bottom and on the walls of these infiltration trenches. In time they lose their efficiency and finally must be dug out when they loss their infiltration capacity. The clever design of the DRAINMAX system means that the essentially important walls and bottom of the DRAINMAX Tunnel infiltration trench can be completely flushed using the special connecting slots. Therefore, a constant level of efficient infiltration is guaranteed for the long run with DRAINMAX Tunnel infiltration trench.

Minimum transportation costs

The DRAINMAX Tunnel infiltration system can be delivered directly from the warehouse to any site in Europe, depending on the project. Up to 40 m³ storage volume can be stacked on one pallet, or 360 m³ per truck or container. You cannot get more efficient than this! Since today, the transportation costs constitute an enormous share of total costs, you obtain considerable cost benefits by choosing DRAINMAX. Depending on the construction, conventional boxshaped infiltration trenches are required up to 6 times the transportation volume, since their main volume consist of air.

Best price with each m³

Best manufacturing, minimum transport volume, minimum space requirement, huge storage capacity and quick installation of DRAINMAX Tunnel infiltration trench gives you the best price per m³ of storage volume that can be attained with plastic infiltration trenches.

The INTEWA DRAINMAX Tunnel systems have over twenty thousand installations across Europe and have been successfully used for more than 8 years. You may view the extraordinarily interesting projects and solutions that have assisted a number of clients, designers and installers, at the INTEWA website.

Accredited stability for decades with DIBt® mark

After many years of practical experience, a clear step ahead has been made with the decision of management to subject the successful product to the complex approval process of DIBt. This implies that consistent product safety has been achieved to date, not only with public tenders but also by the general technical DIBt approval for designers, builders, distributors and installers.
"This indicates that our method of combining security and user benefits, along with an optimum price-performance ratio for our developments, is correct," says Michael Wurzer, Chief of Development, INTEWA.
