Enough water in case of fire - Who is responsible for the water supply?

When it comes to hazardous situations and, in this particular case, fires of any kind, it is important to have a reliable supply of extinguishing water.

But who exactly is responsible for this and when? And how can you become independent?

Public drinking water supply and wastewater disposal in Germany is the responsibility of the municipalities. In total, there are more than 6,000 public drinking water
drinking water suppliers.

In the area of firefighting water supply, a distinction is made between inexhaustible and exhaustible sources. Inexhaustible sources are those that can guarantee a steady supply of water, e.g., by being connected to a pipeline system, provided that this supply is not limited by the water supplier. So-called exhaustible fire water points include fire water ponds or underground fire water tanks. For initial supply, however, underground tanks or cisterns clearly offer the advantage of easy maintenance and cleaning. Where ponds quickly become silted or otherwise polluted and thus cannot provide adequate firefighting water quality, firefighting water tanks are the safest and most reliable solution.
In many construction projects, the integration of a fire water tank is mandatory for the initial supply. This is especially important in the case shortly after the outbreak of a fire. You as the person in charge are familiar with the matter and responsible for the extinguishing water supply? We are happy to support you in your projects.
