Description
At around 390 rest stops, people travelling on the motorways can find relaxation and recreation. This makes Autobahn Tank & Rast the leading provider of gastronomy, retail, hotels and fuel on the motorways in Germany. In the course of the fire water upgrading of the Frechen Nord service station (on the BAB 4 between Cologne and Aachen), our GRP fire water tanks were installed in accordance with DIN14230-2012. This had to be realised within a short construction period and in a confined space. The decision was made to use two coupled, adjacent 50 m³ tanks, each with a diameter of 2.5 m, to provide a total extinguishing water volume of 96 m³. A special feature here was the installation of the tanks in a so-called mound grave and the use of a withdrawal via a submersible pump with a capacity of 1,600 l/min.
