Rainwater harvesting in South Africa's Mediterranean climate
Project
Detached house in Cape Town / South Africa
Application
Rainwater harvesting for cleaning and irrigation
Products
RAINMASTER Eco and PURAIN filter
Description
The first RAINMASTER Eco in South Africa was installed in the Parker family home in Cape Town. Due to the Mediterranean climate, there is no frost in this beautiful city. Therefore rainwater storage tanks can also be installed above ground. At Parkers, rainwater is collected from 350 m² of roof surface and fed through a U-shaped, underground feed pipe into a 10,000 m² storage tank with integrated, self-cleaning PURAIN filter. The RAINMASTER Eco supplies the toilets, the washing machine and three garden taps. More than 50 % of drinking water consumption is saved with this technology.
