The brewery ”Grain d’Orge“ and INTEWA brew the exclusive B-rain with rainwater

Hops, malt, yeast and last but not least, water - after 500 years of the German Beer Purity Law, beer is very popular. A growing movement called "Craft Beer" brews beers with a wide range of tastes and unique aromas and they do it with enthusiasm.

Hops, malt and yeast are brought together in a creative way to develop something new.The fourth factor for a good beer is water. Breweries usually have their own, strictly guarded water sources to brew their unique beer. However, now there is a new idea - to brew with rainwater.

The idea came to life when Oliver Ringelstein, managing director of INTEWA, and his US partner Bob Drew started to talk about Drew's hobby "Craft Beer". Both are professionally specialized in water: INTEWA develops and sells technologies for water reuse. For several years now the AQUALOOP ultra -and microfiltration technique has - successfully, produced clean drinking water from rainwater. Now the idea was obvious - finally Drew could successfully brew with rainwater. Ringelstein was intrigued by the idea. He started looking for a brewery to put the idea into practice. He found what he was looking for in the microbrewery "Grain d'Orge" in Hombourg, Belgium. Brewmaster Benoît Johnen was soon convinced, because with the AQUALOOP technique rainwater meets the highest brewing demands: due to condensation, the rainwater is free of mineral substances and is naturally purified.

The INTEWA technique reliably removes pollution picked up from water collection surfaces and makes the water perfectly hygienic. The purified rainwater does not contain micropollutants, such as residues of medication or hormones - and of course no pesticides (such as glyphosate), almost a unique feature! Outlet water cannot be any "purer" for the production of beer. Pure beer which is brewed with pure rainwater: it is a convincing idea for the popular beverage with a long history.

Benoît Johnen got down to work. In a conscientious development process, Artikel B-rain was born. It is brewed like a Trappist beer with a secondary fermentation in the bottle and contains 6.5 vol.-% alcohol.

The soft rainwater gives B-rain a unique character. Especially the malt aromas are clearly present and provide a delicate taste sensation. B-rain should be served at 12 to 14 degrees Celsius in glasses with a handle and a wide brim. When pouring, please make sure that the sediment remains in the bottle. A new beer for the fans - a real delight.

In May 2016, B-Rain will be tasted for the first time. People who are interested should - also for further production - make contact directly to INTEWA; B-rain is only available via the company in Aachen.
